Notion Integration
How do I integrate with Notion?
- Connect your Notion account (Connecting Notion)
- Select or create a database (Connections)
- Create a widget and configure it
- Copy the embed link and paste it into any Notion page as an embed block
See Creating Widgets for a step-by-step walkthrough with screenshots.
Which widgets need Notion?
Only Streak, Levels, and Heatmap require a Notion connection. Clock and Weather work standalone.
Can I use my own database schema?
Yes. AriseNote supports custom Tasks and Habits databases. Map your existing Notion properties to AriseNote fields during setup. If your property names are standard (Status, Due Date, etc.), auto-mapping handles most of the work.
Alternatively, use "Use our database" during setup to get a pre-configured template.
Is my Notion data secure?
Yes. AriseNote uses Notion's official API with OAuth 2.0 authentication. You select which pages AriseNote can access and can revoke access at any time. We only request read access to the databases you explicitly share — we cannot modify, create, or delete anything in Notion. Your data is not permanently stored on our servers, and the service is GDPR compliant.
See Connecting Notion — Security for details.
Widgets and Data
Why isn't my widget showing data?
Common causes:
- Notion not connected — connect from Settings → Account or the dashboard banner
- Database not shared — share the database page with AriseNote in Notion's Connections menu
- Status mapping mismatch — verify Done/In Progress/To Do values match your Notion status options exactly
- Assignee filter — check if tasks are filtered to specific assignees
- Empty database — add entries with completion dates or done statuses
See Connections — Troubleshooting.
How often does widget data update?
- Clock — live, no sync needed
- Weather, Streak, Levels, Heatmap — refreshed automatically based on Notion's update frequency, usually about a minute. You can manually refresh the widget by clicking the refresh button in the upper left corner of the widget, if the hover menu is enabled in widget's settings.
Can I use one database for multiple widgets?
Yes. Create a connection once, then attach it to multiple widgets. For example, the same Habits database can power both a Streak widget and a Heatmap widget.
My widget embed shows an error in Notion
- Verify your AriseNote subscription is active (trial or paid)
- Check that the widget still exists in your dashboard (not deleted)
- For Notion-backed widgets, ensure Notion is still connected
- Try removing and re-embedding the widget with a fresh copy link
Account and Billing
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. Cancel from Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription (Stripe portal). You keep full access until the end of your current billing period.
What happens when my trial ends?
Widget embeds stop syncing data. Subscribe to the Starter plan to restore full functionality. Your widgets and connections are preserved — nothing is deleted.
