At AriseNote, we want you to be satisfied with our service. This Refund Policy explains when and how you can request a refund for your AriseNote subscription.

1. Refund Eligibility

1.1 Who Can Request a Refund?

You may request a refund if:

  • You made a payment for an AriseNote subscription (monthly or annual)
  • You submit your refund request within 14 days of the payment date
  • You are not satisfied with the service for any reason

1.2 14-Day Refund Period

In accordance with EU consumer protection laws, you have 14 days from the date of payment to request a full refund.

Important dates:

  • Payment date: The date your payment was processed by Stripe
  • Refund deadline: 14 days after the payment date (inclusive)
  • Processing time: Refunds are processed within 14 business days of approval

Example:

  • Payment processed: January 1, 2026
  • Refund request deadline: January 15, 2026 (14 days later)
  • You must submit your request by January 15, 2026

1.3 What Is NOT Eligible for Refund?

Refunds are not available for:

  • Requests made more than 14 days after payment
  • Free trial period (no payment made)
  • Partial refunds for unused portions of your subscription after the 14-day period
  • Additional free trials after receiving a refund (see Section 3)
  • Chargebacks or payment disputes filed directly with your bank or credit card company (please contact us first)

2. How to Request a Refund

2.1 Refund Request Process

To request a refund:

  1. Send an email to: help@arisenote.com
  2. Include the following information:
    • Subject line: "Refund Request"
    • Your AriseNote account email address
    • Payment date or transaction ID (if available)
    • Brief reason for refund (optional but helpful)
  3. Wait for confirmation:
    • We will review your request within 2 business days
    • You'll receive an email confirming approval or requesting additional information
  4. Refund processing:
    • Once approved, refunds are processed within 14 business days
    • Refund will be issued to your original payment method

2.2 Required Information

To process your refund efficiently, please provide:

  • Account email: The email address associated with your AriseNote account
  • Payment information: Payment date or Stripe transaction ID (we can look this up if you don't have it)
  • Reason (optional): While not required, feedback helps us improve our service

2.3 Response Time

  • Initial response: Within 2 business days (Monday-Friday, excluding holidays)
  • Refund approval: Typically same day as initial response
  • Refund processing: Within 14 business days of approval

Business days: Monday through Friday, excluding German public holidays


3. Important Consequences of Refunds

3.1 Account Closure

When you receive a refund:

Immediate effects:

  • Your AriseNote account will be closed
  • All widget configurations will be deleted
  • Access to the service will be terminated
  • Your Notion integration will be disconnected

⚠️ Data retention:

  • Account data will be retained for 30 days after closure
  • After 30 days, all your data is permanently deleted
  • You can request immediate deletion if preferred

3.2 No Additional Free Trials

One Free Trial Per User Policy:

After receiving a refund, you are prohibited from:

  • Creating a new AriseNote account with the same email address to obtain another free trial
  • Creating a new AriseNote account with a different email address to obtain another free trial
  • Connecting the same Notion workspace(s) to a new AriseNote account to obtain another free trial

Why this policy exists:

Our free trial is designed to give new users an opportunity to evaluate AriseNote. Allowing multiple free trials after refunds would constitute abuse of our free trial system.

Enforcement:

We track email addresses and Notion workspace IDs. Attempts to circumvent this policy may result in:

  • Immediate account suspension
  • Permanent ban from the service
  • Legal action if fraud is suspected

3.3 Re-subscribing After a Refund

If you want to use AriseNote again after receiving a refund:

You CAN:

  • Re-subscribe to AriseNote using the same account email
  • Connect the same Notion workspaces

You CANNOT:

  • Receive another free trial period
  • Your new subscription will start immediately upon payment
  • You will be charged the full subscription fee

4. Refund Processing

4.1 Payment Method

Refunds are issued to the original payment method used for the transaction:

  • Credit card: Refunded to the same credit card
  • Debit card: Refunded to the same debit card
  • Other payment methods: Refunded according to Stripe's refund policies

4.2 Processing Time

AriseNote processing: Within 14 business days of approval

Bank/card issuer processing: Additional 5-10 business days (varies by financial institution)

Total time: Typically 3-4 weeks from request to funds appearing in your account

4.3 Refund Amount

  • Full refund: 100% of the subscription payment
  • No deductions: We do not deduct any fees or charges
  • Currency: Refunded in the same currency as the original payment

4.4 Refund Confirmation

You will receive email confirmation:

  1. When your refund request is approved: Confirmation of approval and estimated timeline
  2. When the refund is processed: Confirmation that refund has been issued to your payment method
  3. Reference number: For tracking purposes

5. Special Circumstances

5.1 Technical Issues

If you experience technical issues that prevent you from using the service:

Before requesting a refund:

  • Contact our support team at help@arisenote.com
  • We will work to resolve the issue quickly
  • Most technical issues can be resolved within 24-48 hours

If issues cannot be resolved:

  • You may request a refund within the 14-day period
  • We may offer an extended trial period as an alternative
  • Your refund request will be processed as described above

5.2 Billing Errors

If you were charged incorrectly:

  • Contact us immediately at help@arisenote.com
  • Provide details of the billing error
  • We will investigate and issue a refund if an error occurred
  • Billing error refunds are not subject to the 14-day limit

5.3 Duplicate Charges

If you were charged more than once for the same subscription:

  • Contact us at help@arisenote.com with payment details
  • We will refund duplicate charges immediately
  • Duplicate charge refunds are not subject to the 14-day limit

5.4 Account Hacking or Unauthorized Access

If your account was compromised and unauthorized charges were made:

  • Contact us immediately at help@arisenote.com
  • File a report with your bank or credit card company
  • We will investigate and cooperate with fraud investigations
  • Refunds for unauthorized charges are not subject to the 14-day limit

5.5 Subscription Cancellation (No Refund)

If you cancel your subscription but don't request a refund:

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period
  • You retain full access to AriseNote until the subscription expires
  • No refund is provided for unused time in the current billing period
  • Your account is not closed; you can re-subscribe at any time
  • If you want a refund, you must request it within 14 days of payment

6. Annual Subscriptions

6.1 Annual Refund Policy

Annual subscriptions are subject to the same 14-day refund policy:

  • Full refund if requested within 14 days of payment
  • No partial refunds for unused months after the 14-day period
  • Same consequences as monthly subscriptions (account closure, no new free trial)

6.2 Annual Subscription Cancellation

If you cancel an annual subscription after the 14-day refund period:

  • Your subscription remains active for the full year
  • No pro-rata refund for unused months
  • You can continue using AriseNote until the annual period ends
  • You will not be charged again unless you manually renew

7. Free Trial Refund Policy

7.1 Free Trial Period

AriseNote offers a 7-day free trial for new users.

Important notes:

  • The free trial is free; no payment is required
  • No refund is applicable because no payment was made
  • You can cancel anytime during the trial without being charged

7.2 Trial to Paid Transition

When your free trial ends:

  • You have a 7-day grace period to complete payment
  • If you pay during or after the trial, the 14-day refund period starts from the payment date
  • The 7-day trial and 7-day grace period do not extend the 14-day refund period

Example timeline:

  • Day 1: Free trial starts
  • Day 7: Free trial ends
  • Day 8-14: Grace period (account suspended but data retained)
  • Day 10: You make payment
  • Day 24: Last day to request refund (14 days from payment on Day 10)

8. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

8.1 Contact Us First

Before filing a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or credit card company:

  • Contact us at help@arisenote.com
  • We can usually resolve issues faster than the chargeback process
  • Chargebacks can take 60-90 days to resolve
  • Our refund process takes only 2-4 weeks

8.2 Chargeback Consequences

If you file a chargeback without contacting us first:

⚠️ Immediate consequences:

  • Your AriseNote account will be permanently suspended
  • All data will be immediately deleted
  • You may be permanently banned from using AriseNote
  • We may dispute the chargeback with documentation

⚠️ Financial consequences:

  • Chargeback fees ($15-25) may be charged to your account
  • We may pursue collection for chargeback fees and subscription costs
  • Your account may be reported to fraud prevention services

8.3 Legitimate Chargebacks

Chargebacks are appropriate for:

  • Unauthorized charges due to account hacking or fraud
  • Charges after you've already received a refund
  • Billing errors that we refuse to correct

In these cases:

  • Still notify us at help@arisenote.com
  • We will cooperate with your bank's investigation
  • We will not dispute legitimate chargebacks

9. Regional Considerations

9.1 European Union (EU) / European Economic Area (EEA)

EU consumers have additional rights under the Consumer Rights Directive:

14-day cooling-off period:

  • Right to cancel within 14 days of purchase
  • Full refund without needing to give a reason
  • AriseNote's policy complies with and exceeds these requirements

Digital services waiver:

  • By starting your free trial or using the service, you acknowledge that service delivery begins immediately
  • You waive the right to the cooling-off period if you've fully consumed the service
  • Our 14-day refund policy still applies regardless

9.2 United Kingdom (UK)

UK consumers have similar rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015:

  • 14-day right to cancel
  • Full refund for services not yet fully performed
  • AriseNote's policy complies with UK requirements

9.3 California (USA)

California consumers have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to request refunds under our standard policy
  • No additional refund rights beyond our 14-day policy
  • Right to data deletion regardless of refund status

9.4 Germany

German consumers have rights under BGB (Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch):

  • 14-day Widerrufsrecht (right of withdrawal)
  • Full refund without reason
  • AriseNote complies with German consumer protection laws

9.5 Other Regions

For consumers in other regions:

  • Our standard 14-day refund policy applies
  • May be supplemented by local consumer protection laws
  • Contact us if you have questions about your regional rights

10. Exceptions and Limitations

10.1 Force Majeure

We are not liable for refund delays caused by:

  • Natural disasters, pandemics, or acts of God
  • Government actions or regulations
  • Banking system failures
  • Payment processor (Stripe) outages
  • Internet or telecommunications failures

In such cases:

  • We will process your refund as soon as possible
  • We will keep you informed of any delays
  • The 14-day approval timeline may be extended

10.2 Refund Fraud

We reserve the right to deny refunds if we detect fraud:

  • Multiple refund requests from the same user
  • Systematic abuse of the refund policy
  • Creating multiple accounts to obtain refunds
  • False claims or misrepresentation

Suspected fraud may result in:

  • Permanent account suspension
  • Ban from future use of AriseNote
  • Legal action
  • Reporting to fraud prevention services

10.3 Subscription Transfers

Subscriptions cannot be transferred or refunded in the following cases:

  • Transfer to another user or account
  • Transfer to a different Notion workspace
  • Sale or transfer of your business
  • Change in business structure

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Refund Policy to reflect:

  • Changes in applicable laws
  • Changes to our refund process
  • Improvements to customer service

When we make changes:

  • We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top
  • Material changes will be announced via email
  • We will provide 30 days' notice for changes that reduce your rights
  • Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance

Your rights:

  • If you don't agree with changes, you may cancel your subscription
  • If you cancel within 14 days of a material change, you may request a refund
  • Changes don't affect refund requests for payments made before the change
